My husband and I are getting into wine these days. We also like to introduce people to new types of wines whenever we get a chance. Its so awesome to discover that small uncommercialized winery that has not become the latest and greatest cult choice. Now we have quite a few friends who have gotten into wine and we can share this ‘hobby’ when we all see each other.
Last week we hosted a really fun blind wine tasting event with our friends. The theme of the night was Pinot Noir wines. Six different bottles of pinor noirs were selected ranging in all prices up to a max of $25 including tax (The Seasmoke was not tasted though, bummer!). We made up voting ballots for annoymous voting. Everyone had to taste around the table and then record their votes. At the end, we counted up all the points for each of our selected categories (initial taste, smell, finishing taste, color) and selected the winner.
Everyone told us they had lots of fun and can’t wait for the next wine tasting party! I’m so glad that everyone enjoyed it, and I am looking forward to planning the next wine event. We think that we will choose a white wine varietal for our next theme.
